He said, "I told you I got this!"

www.freedigitalphotos.net

Our big beautiful TV blew out a couple of weeks ago and the first thing I said to my husband was, "Let's call somebody."

He told me not to worry about it, he'll handle it.

(Do some of you know how this story is about to go?)

So I searched online, even after he told me to stop because he's checking into a few things about how to fix the broken bulb in our TV and where to get it from.

I then proceeded to ask my neighbor if she could recommend a TV repair guy.

My husband, still ever so patient, told me, "You don't have to ask our neighbor for anything. I got this."

So a few days passed and still there was silence in the man cave from the TV, because it still was not working.

Again....this ever so dutiful wife, who felt that her tired, stressed out husband, already had so much on his plate, just wanted to help him....So I conveniently ignored everything he was saying and continued the search online, on YouTube, and even debated taking it apart myself to see if I could fix it.

Mostly because it was taking a few days...Then a week....Then two weeks...

Then one day a box came....

Then he grabbed some tools and fixed the TV in about an hour.

Now it works and he looked at me like, "Nah look here girlie, I told you I got this."

You sure did hubby!

So I'm writing it in my diary that next time, when he says something, I'll actually stay SILENT & LISTEN and wait a few days....

Maybe even a couple of weeks....

Because sometimes when they say, "I got it"....Damnit, sometimes they do. :D

Updated to add: The light bulb blew the same day we put it in, lol. Oh well! Back to the drawing board. LOL

Want Free Gas? Eat Beans!!!!

www.freedigitalphotos.net
What better way to get you gassed up about something than talking about the very thing that gives you just that!

Nutritional Two Minute Tidbits

Beans! One of the secrets to a long and healthy life, is in the food that we eat. All foods are not created equal. Choosing and eating the right foods may help increase your life expectancy as well as the quality of your life. I've been going to the doctor lately and she's really been incredibly helpful in steering me in the right nutritional direction. I've recently discovered that I have issues with my thyroid, but that's another topic for a different day. Today we're talking about beans!

Beans – Beans are dirty! You may think the main reason to soak beans is to minimize gas, and while it helps to remove the indigestible complex sugars from the outer coating of the beans, soaking beans not only cleans them, but it also allows for shorter cooking times and that preserves the most nutrients. According to the California Dry Bean Advisory Board, proteins, enzymes, and other nutrients are stored inside the bean.  Beans of all kinds (kidney, navy, lentils, chickpeas, Northern) are high in protein.  This is considered a plant protein so it contains very little fat, carbs and calories.  If fiber is a problem in your diet, eating a healthy portion of beans each day can keep your digestive system healthy.

More information about dried beans and how to soak 'em and cook 'em can be found here:

Black Bean & Banana Brownies with Chef ReCee Jay & Friends

Uncle Bear from the Chef ReCee Jay & Friends Series, wanted to share the recipe, in hopes that the reader will know, that it was all because of him, that ReCee Jay added a banana. "ReCee was panicking because she ran out of eggs and I was the one that told her to just throw a banana in it, to substitute the eggs, and it worked out!" Uncle Bear boasts proudly.

Ingredients:
Yields 10-12 servings

1 (15.5 oz.) can black beans, thoroughly rinsed and drained
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon unrefined sugar
1/4 cup Hershey's Cocoa Natural Unsweetened
1 egg
1 banana (the riper the better!)
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon instant coffee
1/4 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
1/3 cup dark chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray the pan with cooking spray in a 8×8″ baking pan.
This will be your security blanket to make sure the brownies don't stick to the pan!!
 .
Place all the ingredients except chocolate chips and walnuts in a food processor or blender and pulse thoroughly until smooth and well combined.
.
Pour batter in the baking dish. Top with nuts and chocolate chips. Bake for 45-60 minutes or until the top is dry and edges begin to pull away from the baking dish. Cool completely before cutting.

Look out for these fun loving characters in their first book, Our Picnic Surprise. In this story, Chef ReCee Jay and Carb are ready to set off on a picnic with a basket full of sugary treats. Before they set off on their joyous adventure, Veggie hops in with a song, and changes their whole day! It's a picnic surprise for Chef ReCee Jay and Carb and you'll be surprised at what Veggie can do too! Already garnering rave reviews; this book is sure to be a part of your children’s reading collection. C. Why We Women Are Our Own Greatest Enemy When Dating

Why We Women Are Our Own Greatest Enemy When Dating
Copyright (c) 2009-2011 RoseMary Alberts
NSA Dating Site
http://www.nsadatingsite.com/

It is rightly said, "Women never know what they want."

I begin by saying this because, I have learned that while there
are women who want to be committed to one man, there are some
others who seek only attention, gifts, dinners, movies etc, and
still others who are only interested in having a physical
relationship. But all these three categories cannot be used as a
base to judge women and their point of view about relationships
only because, like I said, "Women never know what they want."

So read on and you will know what I mean...

When I was in my twenties, I was once walking my little dog
"spark", and I noticed a man staring at me.

I ignored him and moved on.

He followed me, and without any waste of time, he introduced
himself to me.

As I kept talking to him, I found him to be very interesting and
I knew he was attracted to me too.

This went on for a couple of days, until one day he asked me out
to dinner. I did not even think twice as this was what I was
waiting for.

We went out that weekend for dinner, had a lovely time and I
promptly came back home that night. This went on for months. Our
relationship was growing, we were becoming more than just
friends, got closer emotionally and physically.

Then one evening, I casually asked him where did he think this
relationship was going.

He said he preferred not thinking about it.

It was a little disturbing. I mean, I was expecting him to say
something that put us on a committed path with one another.

When I asked him what he meant by that and why he did not want to
think ahead, he plainly said "because I am a man, and men don't
do that."

I was so puzzled. When everything was going so well, I felt like
our relationship was actually going somewhere. I wanted him to
meet my friends, wanted to have conversations about our future,
marriage, kids, our little home over-looking the park, a little
dog etc. And the more I thought about it, the more I felt, or
rather, the more I assumed he felt this way too. But I was
wrong...

This made me sad the first few days, then angry, then I reached a
phase where it did not bother me anymore, and finally I was
thinking it probably happened for the best and he was not meant
for me anyway.

It made me wonder how just a few weeks back I was dreaming of a
home, kids, and marriage and now I'm glad I'm alone and free
again.

Why is it so hard for us women to decide on one thing? Why do we
always want to put our feet into every shoe?

No wonder men find it so easy to move on and say, "there are
other fish in the sea".

Why does it take so long for women to figure that out? Why do
they wait for reality, or in this case, men, to brutally show it
to them?

There's no end to these questions, but there probably is only
one answer - "Women never know what they want".

Meat Free for 13 days....Almost

Since finding out that animal protein is harder to digest in comparison of other foods (the kidneys too!), I've cut back drastically. I can honestly say, meat is not one of my biggest concerns, it's that darn, delicious, and delectable, sugar! That monkey on my back, Carb, is at it again! Ha-ha! So far it's been 13 days and it hasn't been all that bad without meat. I did have a few grilled shrimp yesterday, but other than that, I did not yearn for bacon like I thought I would, when my dear husband made it yesterday. Is there anything that you guys want to give up? Even if it's just a short experiment, like I'm doing. I'm not proclaiming to be anything, other than just trying to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

What would you like to give up?
It doesn't have to be a food.
Another think I'd like to give up is my fear of swimming!
